Squad named today.
Clarke Watson Warner Cowan Hughes Khawaja Wade Henriques Smith Maxwell Lyon Doherty Pattinson Siddle Bird Starc Johnson
So we have 5 specialist batsmen 1 injury prone all rounder 3 all ordinary rounders 1 keeper 2 spinners 5 pace bowlers.
I agree with the 5 pacemen that they will obviously rotate. Smith and Henriques are a joke. Henriques has done nothing all summer and Smith is a substitute fieldsman. Smith has bowled 15 overs this summer so he can't classify as an all rounder and his batting is technically flawed. Maxwell seems hit and miss too. They've picked 3 of the same player!
Needs another specialist bat - I'd go for Alex Doolan from Tas. Been following him now since I didn't know who he was and he's doing quite well.
You should have a 2nd keeper in a 17 man squad.
Doherty has taken two first class wickets for the summer. Just saying...

Didn't you realise Wrighty that being NSW captain automatically means a walk up start for the Australian team I think there is some history about that... But I can't remember who but someone really high up in the cricketing ranks (or used to be) really rates Smith's batting - can't see why...his got one of those unusual techniques like Hughes has where it can only really work for him and shouldn't be taught. And let me get this straight - three all-rounders...four if you include Johnson...3 if you don't include Smith - but only 1 keeper I think Hughes has become the likely fill-in if there was something to happen to Wade. And good to see Jackson Bird included - give the lad some experience, although he will probably get carved up over there.

Starting today around 3pm for NSW and Vic.
It should be a cracking series - hopefully we can counteract all the spin.
Bowling wise we are looking pretty good - Siddle, Starc and Pattinson with Lyon, Clarke and Warner to bowl some spinners and Henriques as the all-rounder.
India (probable): Virender Sehwag, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (capt and wk), R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Ishant Sharma, Pragyan Ojha Australia (confirmed): David Warner, Ed Cowan, Phillip Hughes, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke (captain), Matthew Wade (wicketkeeper), Moises Henriques, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon
Last Five Head-To-Head Results
2012: Fourth Test: Australia won by 298 runs in Adelaide 2012: Third Test: Australia won by an innings and 37 runs in Perth 2012: Second Test: Australia won by an innings and 68 runs in Sydney 2011: First Test: Australia won by a 122 runs in Melbourne 2010: Second Test: India won by seven wickets in Bangalore

Great recovery job from Clarke and Henriques - rescuing the Aussies when they were 5 for 150 to put them about 5 for 300. Henriques really impressive on debut! Henriques now out but still good effort - hopefully the aussies can get to 400...that would be competitive. Ashwin has taken all six of the indian wickets so far!! Just put the mickey on the aussies, jadeja gets in on the action and dismisses Starc Well done clarkey on that century - awesome effort. Just got it in time too before the close of play.

Clarke is unbelievable.
Moses. Well he proved me wrong. But his dismissal was very ordinary!!!

380 all out for the Aussies - good effort by the tail-enders to scrap and fight to that total.

Awesome start to the Indian innings for the Aussies - Pattinson has already picked up two wickets!
Sehwag was mighty unlucky - defended it down behind him, it then went up in the air and then hit the stumps!
We need Tendulkar though...

The tail is unfortunately wagging for the Indians - they are getting towards 100 in front.

One wicket left in the sheds - Henriques is again playing out of his skin with the bat - Lyon hopefully will hold up one end and let Henriques build up a bit of a lead; really even if we get to 200 in front by tea, India would still have to be odds on to chase it down. But that's a big ask still! ;D

Time to bring back Warney!
I cant see us winning 1 of the 4 test's to be honest, Our spinner stocks are so low it's not funny.
Although from what I have read Dhoni had a once in a lifetime innings.

Murray Walker knows what we need to win over there: "Spin, spin, spin!"

Well Warney's over there commentating - so he's not that far away from taking the field Wrighty would probably know more but there are a couple of sub-continent spinners playing for Victoria atm - a leg spinner and left arm orthodox spinner - if you can't beat them, breed a couple of your own!! ;D

2nd test starts tomorrow (or today where you are in this country) and Australia, if we go by reports, are sticking by the same team
Australia: David Warner, Ed Cowan, Phillip Hughes, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke (captain), Matthew Wade (wicketkeeper), Moises Henriques, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon
I hate to say it but the team looks really under-done - they need two spinners.
I can't believe O'Keefe from NSW isn't in the squad - he would take Moises' place for mine - Moises is a batting all-rounder from what I can see and O'Keefe would bring more balance to this role as he has an average in First class cricket with the bat of 35 and an average of 28 with the ball.

No one apart from Clarke has the ability to grind out an innings.
