Honestly very surprised Souths have given Lote Tuquiri a lifeline. I thought they were finished with recruiting 'decorated' players with the retirement of Matt King. Hopefully at least they got him cheap.

News that Sam Burgess is set to go play rugby at the end of the season is a tremendous blow to the Rabbitohs. It will likely have a knock-on effect for the plans of his brothers and whether they want to stay in Australia which, if they don't and follow Sam back to England, could cripple our forward pack. We really need to achieve that premiership this season. It is now or never!

Well done to the cows for winning their first piece of silverware. Also good to see the Bowen name live on!

It is confirmed that Sam Burgess is leaving at the end of the season. It makes it all the more important that this is the year we win it. I don't reckon Sam's dedication or determination to ensure Souths achieve this goal will dissipate as a result of this decision.

Good start to the season retaining the charity shield. A scare for both teams with their no. 1s - inglis should be right for round one though but hopefully dugan will be too.

Good work rabbits! I expect if Teo is to get a week then Sonny Bill should get two for that blatant shoulder charge. Teo's one was more chest and at least tried to tackle with some arm while Sonny Bill's was all shoulder.

I would have to say that was a disgraceful decision by the video ref to award that try. The video ref had to be satisfied that there was enough evidence that he could overturn a no try decision by the on field ref. And by saying that at no time the bulldogs' player was impeded trying to tackle the player who passed the ball despite that player running behind a decoy shows just how much he got it wrong.

Quite pleasant to see Madge dump Champion to reserve grade after his sub-par performance on the weekend. It gives a chance to Joel Reddy to partner his brother-in-law Goodwin in the centres.
On a completely separate topic, it was good to see rabbitoh Luke Keary fight the ARL's classification of him being a NSW player because that is where he first played rep footy despite being born in Queensland and living up here for the first 10 years of his life

As I have said before and as I will say again, Tigers are the dirtiest team in the NRL.

A few NRL silly season distractions this week for the rabbitohs (can't say they have been good either; how we signed Glenn Stewart I will never know?? - hardly get 20 games out of him for the 2 years) but we should beat the broncos tomorrow night with Teo and George Burgess coming back in.

I just wonder that the Kiwis changed the direction that they would take into the selection of their team from picking (or wanting to pick) the best team available vs. looking to the future. I reckon once they knew that Sonny Bill was going to make himself ineligible for the ANZAC test match that is when they decided to change tact. It also shows how shallow Sonny Bill is that he can arguably let some media scrutiny (quite justifiable might I add) into substances that the kiwi players were allegedly taking at the world cup influence his decision. Although the Roosters will be happy with his decision - if ever there was a selfish team that would prefer a player to put their club ahead of representative honours it would be the Roosters. www.nrl.com/kiwis-test-team-named/tabid/10874/newsid/77972/default.aspx

From a rugby league supporter's point of view, it is a shame to see Campbelltown Stadium's longevity on the line as a venue where the West Tigers will play in the future. I remember when their crowds at Campbelltown were stronger than their ones at Leichhardt Oval and it was Leichhardt Oval's future in doubt. Hopefully this $10 a ticket will produce a really good crowd on Saturday night for their game against the Broncos. www.nrl.com/failure-not-an-option-on-saturday-tigers/tabid/10874/newsid/78631/default.aspx

Donk unlucky for your young bloke about Friday night's game with the cows loss. I thought they were robbed. Channel 9 would have been happy that the Roosters won given their boss supports them. I guess they got what they wanted with a Souths v Roosters semi. I hope you're backing the rabbits
