Crows should play hard-ball with Tippett - let him go into the draft, and then re-draft the bastard before Sydney's first pick.

Would be good to send that sort of message, But in real terms the Crows will be better off getting a 4-5way trade deal done and move on. Tippett will get what he deserves when he has to eye ball his new team mates on 1 million a year, Can see that going pear shaped at some point.

Its one thing to leave the club, whether it be for family reasons, money, or prefers the lifestyle of another city, but the fact that he couldn't face his team-mates and just sent a text is very poor form if true.
Will be interesting when he has to play in Adelaide next year

Wow, just heard a bit more of Harper's interview and he really spoke his mind - said far more than what is in the above article, and it was not just what he said but the way he said it.
I take back my call to redraft Tippet - having heard Phil speak I could not agree more (not a Crow supporter but they are my second team).
No matter what happens now, where Tippet goes and what the Crows do or don't get for him, one thing for certain is that Tippet is not welcome nor liked at West Lakes any more.
Do they have odds on him getting yet another concusion when (if) he lines up against the Crows next year? ;D
Sorry, I forget he is going home to be with his family - and "Home is where the heart cash is"

The only thing I would say about what Harper said, Was not to say that sort of stuff until after a deal was done, Why if you are negotiating with Sydney would you let them know that you would not take Tippett back if no deal was done? Dumb move IMO. Now Sydney know full well, If no deal happens the AFC will let him slide to the PSD and Sydney get him for nothing, Harper probably knows more than he is letting on, But still not a good look at this stage of talks. If the AFC get a fair trade done then no harm done, But it still is a weak way to negotiate, Something AFC gets critised about far to much. This is what Harper and Co SHOULD be saying right now. www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/adelaide-crows-must-be-tyrants-in-tippett-trade/story-fn83zjcx-1226494709513

Fletch lives.
Good to see the 79 year old going around again. Hope his season is injury free, allowing him to beat Madden's games record at the bombers.
Fairly placid fella for a 'ranga.

When was the last time we played the crows in Melbourne?
4 years ago I reckon.
The fixture is a bit of a joke. So many flaws in it. How's how they manipulate things like ess playing saints twice cos of Goddard. Surely something like that shouldn't effect the draw.

Im not sure off the top of my head when we last played Ess in Melbourne, The only reason I can see that the AFL keep scheduling for the game to be in Adelaide, Is that there is good support for Essendon in Adelaide, Which in turn equals $$ for the AFL, Just a guess though, Its not really fair for Essendon, It doesn't bother me whether it's here or Melbourne.
Would have thought getting 2 games against the Saints next year would be a good thing, I reckon that should be 2 wins.

Looks like good old Sheeds is coming to the Tippett party, Got to love the timing of this press release. GREATER Western Sydney dominates trade talk on Tuesday morning, with newspapers across Australia reporting they are prepared to part with early NAB AFL Draft picks to secure a star player. That star could be Kurt Tippett, with Giants list manager Stephen Silvagni telling the Daily Telegraph the club is ready to step in if the Sydney Swans can't reach an agreement with Adelaide for the key forward. "The Crows certainly know we've got some interest in him," Silvagni told the Sydney newspaper. The Giants hold picks one, two, three, 12 and 13 in next month's draft on the Gold Coast, and Silvagni has said they're willing to part with all but pick one for the right deal. www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149727/default.aspx

Further to that Crikey GWS have put picks 2, 3, 12 and 13 on the table to lure Tippett away from trade talks with Sydney. Not sure whether he is worth that Other trade deals done so far: >> Danyle Pearce from Port Adelaide to Fremantle >> Brendon Goddard from St Kilda to Essendon >> Chris Knights from Adelaide to Richmond >> Troy Chaplin from Port Adelaide to Richmond >> Quinten Lynch from West Coast to Collingwood >> Shannon Byrnes from Geelong to Melbourne >> Angus Monfries from Essendon to Port Adelaide >> Brian Lake from Western Bulldogs to Hawthorn >> Sharrod Wellingham from Collingwood to West Coast >> Brent Moloney from Melbourne to Brisbane >> Tom Lee from GWS (WAFL) to St Kilda >> Dominic Barry from GWS (NT Zone selection) to Melbourne www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/afl/live-afl-trades-chat/story-e6frexx0-1226496780322
And I'm not sure who this rule was changed to please - but it's disappointing to see that ruckmen will no longer be able to wrestle in the ball ups. www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149757/default.aspx
