Talk about throwing good money after bad. With sales of the Falcon falling and no hero V8 Ford model. FPV the part Prodrive owned fast Falcon company invested a mind boggling $30 million on the new supercharged Miami V8. And that investment has paid off how you may wonder? Check out the link below and apart from sacking a substantial number of senior staff (for the second time in 5 years), including their recently returned from cancer treatment general manager. FPV have managed to fire up their sales to the point where up until April this year and despite the huge investment in a new engine they are now being outsold by HSV at the staggering rate of more than three cars to one. Exactly why they didn't just do a tune on the Miami V8 and get around 320kw's instead of the huge investment in supercharging it and then screwing the boost back to the point where it makes a poultry 10kw's more than a HSV GTS is anyone's guess. I would have liked to have seen the business case that approved $30 million in investment in a new engine in a declining sales environment that produces a whole 10kw's more than your opposition and in base supercharged form actually makes less power than your oppositions base engine. And now they're in financial trouble. Well no **** Sherlock!!!!! www.carsguide.com.au/site/news-and-reviews/car-news/fpv_in_crisis_after_mass_firing?from=ms

That is very interesting...maybe the business case was based on an unwavering optimism that the Falcon would buck the downward trend in its sales but little did they know that it was just going to get worse...but combine the woes of their marketing campaigns, high price in fuel and rego, and an ever increasing cold shoulder by the public to the falcon has led to the death of once was Australia's most popular car...

In some recent news, Ford are set to introduce, according to them, the fastest GT. Not in terms of power as it will still deliver (335kw) but in terms of acceleration due to its wider tyres and retuned suspension. And unlike, according to some, the Xr8 hasn't been officially re-released as it's just rumour that the FPV GS will become the Xr8 but they are yet to decide on the actual engine as the one currently used for the GS isn't to the reliable standard that is required if it was to run out of the showroom as a Ford Xr8. And redforever is about right with that 3 to 1 call that HSV has over FPV in terms of sales according to this... theage.drive.com.au/motor-news/coming-soon-faster-ford-falcon-gt-20120628-214ow.html
