Ok as we all know typically the sport these days is all bout money and drivers chop and change all the time, but in your opinion who is the most brand loyal of all time? I'll do my best to offer my own explaination of drivers who I think fit this.
Lets start off with the modern era. 4 come to mind and they're Tander, Murph, Van Gisbergen and Frosty.
Tander: Pretty self explanatory. Started in 1998 and has only driven Holdens. Pretty sure the closest thing he came to driving a Ford was a DJR test drive in 97. Other than that I believe Tander is as red as they come. Don't ever see him driving anything else.
Murph: Now a lot about Murph's future is up in the air. Some think he'll follow the Kellys to Nissan, but I think he'll stay red. Over 17 years on the red side. It's a lot to give up to drive some tarted up Datsun (No offense to any Nissan lovers).
Frosty: Just like Tander I don't see him driving anything else. He's a real blue blood. Will probably be regarded as one of Ford's best ever factory drivers.
Van Gisbergen: Although he's only young he's another blue blood. The only thing I'm not sure about is if he'll stay blue forever. If HRT, 888 etc ever offered him a contract would he put blue before it? Who knows.
Now onto some of the more historical drivers. A special mention needs to be given to the late Jason Richards. In his relatively short career he was Holden through and through. I believe he turned down a SBR drive in 2005.
Ambrose: Yes a nightmare for Holden fans, but Ambrose is another bluey. Though I think he was offered a drive with Perkins before ending up at SBR.
McConville: Not many really talk about him, but he's another one brand only driver who only drove Holdens in his full time career.
Now onto some that should be affinity based, but aren't. Skaife, Lowndes, Whincup and The Kellys.
Despite Skaife being the face of Holden for the later half of his career he's still remembered as a Nissan poster boy.
Lowndes: I think he's chopped and change a bit too much to really be regarded as "Holden" or "Ford". He's one of very few drivers though to have universal appeal on both sides.
Whincup; Yeah I think Whincup is in a similar position to Lowndes. Despite being the most successful driver in the last 5 years I don't really consider him to be "Holden" or 'Ford".
The Kellys: Well what can I say? The Kellys have spent their entire careers driving Holdens and are now throwing that all away to go to Nissan.
Anyway that's all for now. I was going to talk about Brock, Moffat, Johnson etc, but I'm all posted out. ;D
