So why dont they get rid of Juliar and put in someone else to build for the future Because one of them in Rudd can't work with the partyroom while the other front runner in Shorten was a noted back-stabber of Rudd, so I can't see the public taking too fondly to him!! The way Labor are travelling at the moment, They will have plenty of years as the opposition to sort out.

Interesting to see the representatives of Fair Work Australia appear before the Senates estimates committees and pretty much repudiate what was cross alleged by Thompson. In that they said that the defence that Thompson used in his address to Parliament that he was set up by the hookers was not used when he gave evidence to the inquiry a couple of years ago...so it looks like it was concocted overnight, probably within that period when it first really came to the attention of the media and when he did actually have a chance to give a response to it. www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/in-depth/fair-work-australia-chief-dismisses-craig-thomsons-claim-of-interference/story-fndsip4d-1226369207604In other political news, it seems as if the PM is being highly hypocritical in now, begrudgingly supporting the policy to import workers for billionaire Gina Rinehart's Roy Hill project (which flies in the face of what the unions want I might add) when she said that no-one in the Sydney's north shore had any idea what working families were going through...

I am flabbergasted by Swan coming out and taking credit for the recent over 1 digit growth in GDP for the last quarter.
Quoting this and that about how fiscally responsible they were and how the Australian people should be so thankful that this Government is doing a good job.
Fact remains while consumer spending was up for that quarter, industry manufacturing is still struggling and most of the growth can be attributed to the mining exports of Queensland and Western Australia.
And once more, he is about to introduce a carbon tax which is going to hit the sector of the economy that is doing it the toughest which is manufacturing whilst also handicapping the one which is performing the best...
I just hope that he is so willing to accept responsibility when the economy really falls on its knees.

Either way I think she needs some psychiatric help
Just on the asylum seekers issue, it is good for the Labor party that they have accepted bi-partisan support from the Coalition in addressing the flood of incoming illegal boats that we are currently experiencing...never going to win on the issue and if they adopt the Coalition policy of complete off-shore processing and it works (which it probably will in time) it will take this issue of the national debate for the next election which is a good thing for the Labor party as it allows them to focus on their perceived strengths of health, education, etc.

Well today earmarks the day that the greatest injustice of a tax was introduced.
I heard that 9/10 households will benefit from the compensation that the government will give them while 3 million people will be disadvantaged as a result.
I just can't see how a tax that effectively circulates money around the economy (i.e. from the polluter into the consumer's hand through compensation) is going to achieve the carbon tax's desired purpose which is surely to reduce our carbon emissions?Or, in other words, there is no incentive for the consumer to change their ways and attitude towards energy use if the hand-outs from the government will match and exceed any cost rise that will occur if energy usage was to remain the same.
I think it is more appropriate to label it as an empty gesture on the part of the goverment that really is a revenue raiser aimed at filling the large funding hole for its debt that was going to appear but for this tax.

Oh god ! Labors head bitch Julia Gillard is at it again denying denying denying and dismissing everything!! Yeah she is in a whole lot of trouble over this one I reckon...gaining an improper benefit from union funds...but she will do what she and Labor does best which is to spin something positive from it!

I read that if Abbott was given the votes by the independents in the last election we'd have a carbon tax anyway...
My personal opinion that they are the two lost unelectable candidates we've seen in 30 years. I put the limit at 30 as I don't want to insult predecessors.

But the problem is Wrighty that atm we have only got those two to choose from, so it's question of who would do a better job of running the country? So its no good hypothesising about Turnbull or Rudd, if these two leaders tickle your fancy, as they are not in the contest and nor do I think they will be...

Just on about Alan Jones, while his words about Gillard's late father were highly disrespectful and deplorable, he has made an unreserved public apology for what he has said. I don't necessarily believe he should be commended for doing it but it was something he needed to do.
As for the calls for his expulsion from the Liberal Party (not that I think he is an actual member) or not allow him to make comments at Liberal Party functions - well that is really a matter for the Liberal Party to decide whether they still want him to associate himself with them or represent them. Also, calls for him to be sacked from his radio gig just won't happen based on the fact he is a co-owner of the station he broadcasts from and purely and simply is the most popular man in the nation on the radio...
But the real reason, to my way of thinking, why there are some people calling for his head is that they realise the power that he wields with his messages and truly they are afraid of that power and they have been waiting for an opportune moment to jump on him and try to bring him down...this just won't happen, so the faster we move away from this, the better given that he has apoligised...
