Yep, picked up the new Wheels with a big shot of the new FPV GT R Spec on the cover trumpeting the R Spec as the fastest Aussie car ever. But when the fast Ford takes on the new Chrysler SRT8 and good old Clubsport R8 it loses the test to the Clubbie. The HSV is deemed a better handler and more composed than the GT and gets the authors nod as the prefered car. Poor old FPV spend $4million on new trick suspension and bigger wheels and tyres and the Clubbie spanks it. I should say better luck next time FPV but now with Ford in charge the chances of another big dollar investment to bring the FPV up to the HSV standard is probably extremely unlikely.

The R Spec left the R8 for dead, Around 1 second quicker just from 0 - 100 4.6 sec Wheels 4.5 sec Top Gear Wheels Results Performance R Spec > SRT8 > R8 Handling R Spec > R8 > SRT8 Technology and Equipment SRT8 > R8 > R Spec Engine and Driveline R Spec > SRT8 > R8 You Holden boys do get sucked in to a headline, And this reviewers personal opinion, try counting the Holden adds in the magazine Looks like the only thing that actually got its ears boxed was the sluggish R8 .

Yet I'd still take one anyday. You boys are nothing without your "blower". Remember how long it took for FPV to come up with a competitive V8 after all:P HSV>FPV.

True. If I was forced at gunpoint I'd take a FPR over most cars. They're pretty good value.

The outcome of the test clearly gave the win to the R8. Ofcourse it's the opinion of the journo, aren't any such comparisons? The point is that the FPV is obviously quick in a straight line but in virtually every other aspect it is beaten. But the results don't matter to Ford fans because it's all just a big conspiracy because Holden advertise in the magazine right? As for the F6Turbo, it's such a hit with Ford and FPV fans that the V8 models outsell it 8 to 1. The R Spec is the GT FPV should have launched the Miama motor with, FPV's boss even admits it in the article. Fact is even with the trick suspension and Blown engine the thing still gets beaten by the HSV. Now that's $4 miilion well spend FPV...

The lucky FPV drivers will have to settle with the knowledge of knowing when ever a HSV pulls up beside them they have the power to easly blow them away,
rather than that of the jernos personal opinion!!!!!

I saw an R Spec GT on the weekend. In Black with the red highlights (which are an almost 100% Mustang colour scheme rip off, but I digress). It really does look like FPV were going for maximum wank value for minimum cost. The red on the wheels doesn't match the red decals on the side and the rear painted bumper insert is a different colour all together. So who ever is doing FPV's colour matching needs to work in a more brightly lit room or get their eyes tested. What a bodgy effort for the cash you have to splash on one of these 'look at me' mobiles...

What a bodgy effort for the cash you have to splash on one of these 'look at me' mobiles... Why it is priced more than the Clubsport is beyond me Bundy, the one I saw looked ok from a distance, but I was able to spend a couple of minutes walking around it parked in the sun and the detailing really was second rate. Compared to my E3 R8 it really did look like it wasn't very well coordinated in terms of the colour matching. The big red insert in the rear bumper looked like it was painted by a guy with a spray tin he bought from Supercheap. The wheels looked great and the red inserts really set them off, but clearly this is a supplier product and not done in house at FPV as the colour is several shades darker than the decals or paint outs. For $80k plus on road it's hard to see anyone but truly one eyed FPV fans thinking it's a good deal. Surely one of the handfull of people that are left at FPV is responsible for product quality and I just wonder how they could let a car out of the factory that was so obviously mismatched in terms of it's colour? Why not just add a few hundred to the cost and replace the decals with real paint? Even if it added $5k, at least FPV fans could point to a unique option on this model rather than some badly coloured stickers...
