Will post some more stuff up. Have done a summary. Any thoughts boys as to how you remember this race? Thoughts on car swapping?

Thoughts on car swapping? In hindsight it's unfair to your competitors. If your original car that you started the race can't finish, you shouldn't be allowed to jump into the sister car. DNFs are just a normal part of racing.

Been a while. Will start the reminiscing now. Quite a spectacular Hardies Heroes, with the elimination of one key competitor. Or so we thought. Dick managed to run another car the day after, but as he said "its was such a dog, it should be tied to a fence'.

But on Dick, was it in the rules that he could run another car after the accident or was it just agreed between the drivers and teams that he should be able to given it was such a big incident? I would rather Dick wouldn't be allowed to run another car because he can't blame anyone but himself for that accident. It wasn't as if he hit a kangaroo or a rock... As for your last q, off hand I don't know but if I could take a stab it would be Brocky.

Fast looks slow, he was unbelievably smooth at his peak. Re Dick, what happened was he got another car off someone already competing in the field. Couldn't happen nowadays but everyone agreed to it and it was all good. Great story. There's a vid of that too, I'll dig it up. Wrong re PB being the first to cross enter. That was one Allan Moffat in 1980 who retired his own Falcon very early, but was cross entered in Bob Morris' Falcon. So he jumped in that, was slower than Bob, so they took him out, but Bob's original co-driver in and he blew the thing up in a couple of laps. So he retired twice that year. Allan and Bob had a bit of a go at each other on tv too. Loved Richo's lap in the BMW. Commitment plus. Love the "revolutionary" periscope camera haha.
