Terrific effort from Ricciardo to grab 2nd on the grid - thought he had pole at the end there until Hamilton's last second clincher. Also good to see the unpredictability of the Melbourne weather play its part in the spectacle. The mercedes look unstoppable though...

Yep great job by Dan, I really hope he can get the car off the line better than the last Aussie Really interested to see how the race pans out, With fuel and tyres, Also breakdowns. Love the way the drivers have to drive the cars this year with throttle application, Not a fan of the sound of them from what I can get off the TV coverage.

Awesome drive from Dan to score Australia's first ever podium at the Albert Park grand prix. It was probably the best result he could get with the Mercedes being so quick but not sure I like fuel being such a factor in how the race unfolds. But I do think the Renault engine is the least thirstiest so that is one good thing that counts in Red bull's favour. On another day we would have seen Williams on the podium. They had good pace today. It was damn unlucky for Massa to be taken out by KK but we have come to expect that over the years through his various kamikaze shunts. One interesting thing was that for once the side of the Red bull garage that was beset with mechanical dramas was Vettel and not Webber/Ricciardo. Could this be the dawn of a new, fairer era at Red bull?
Big sigh as it looks as though Ricciardo's podium is in major doubt for exceeding the maximum allowable fuel flow of 100 kg/h www.crash.net/f1/news/201187/1/ricciardo-podium-in-jeopardy-over-fuel-flow.html

Confirmed but Red bull will appeal. I doubt it will be upheld given it concerns a FIA accredited sensor
