Thought Izzy would have stayed for the full contract and then gone back, But as Wrighty said It did its job for the AFL. At least now Tippett will get to GWS

Great marketing tool and served a purpose. Easily a return on investment for AFL. Stunk as a player though. Its a good marketing tool and return on investment if he saw out the five year contract (I think it was?) rather than cut it short and go back to league. The marketing tool now gives no inspiration for young league players to make the transition to AFL as it doesn't matter how much you get paid even if it was the $25000 per possession that Folau was getting that this will still be not enough to sway them to stay in the game to learn it if they don't enjoy it. So league comes out of this as being the more attractive game to playand I think the lesson is now learnt from the AFL that there isn't too much value in poaching league players, especially when the AFL already has such fine players in Tippett

I reckon Folau has already paid for himself. The club is established now and needs to fight off its own back.

Hopefully the AFL doesn't come down too hard but I guess they also need to give a reminder to other clubs to not do the same.

Yes I agree Bundy, It isn't going to be pretty at all My guess would be a huge fine to the club of around 600-900K, Plus lose top 3 draft picks this year and also next, And we also got nothing for Tippett, Hope I am way off the mark with this, Also it has to be time for our President to leave the building. Not sure what Tippett will get, Maybe deregistered for 6-12 weeks(Dont care TBH) And his manager Blucher shouls have the whole year off IMO. In other news, Melbourne is still able to take part in this years draft, Even though they are being investigated for tanking, IIRC the investigation has been on going for 3 years. www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-escapes-penalties-ahead-of-next-weeks-draft/story-e6freck3-1226515379853--------------------------------------------------------- This just keeps getting better and better Now Tippett is going to sue us, Poor little love www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/kurt-tippett-threatens-to-sue-adelaide-crows/story-e6freck3-1226516154257

Saw that...I guess no club is squeaky clean - time for a complete investigation I reckon.

Been going on for years - would be interesting if they decided to look at how some local players financed fast food franchise purchases late 90s/early naughties - but they will only focus on cleaning up the present and make it look a recent issue they quickly stamped out.
Just like some WA players and their real estate portfolios I mentioned earlier.
Funny how all the Port supporters are trying to kick the Crows fans over this - weren't they done for rorting that occured before they even played their first game - paid players to stay out of the 97 draft so Port could pick them up in 98? Think Bucky even tried arguing they couldn't get done for breach of AFL salary cap when they weren't part of the AFL at the time?

Adelaide can still participate in this years draft as they got an adjournment from Monday's hearing.
But now they're being investigated for van Berlo and Dangerfield.
And in regards to the Judd-Visy deal, 5 years too late. That stunk from the beginning an the AFL could hardly get stuck into Tippett whilst allowing that deal.

I see that the crows, in a sign of good faith, have given up their first two draft picks. A step in the right direction.

The initial reaction is the crows got off lightly. Was expecting 2 years of draft sanctions. Master stroke I guess to play the "goodwill" card at this years draft. Picks 20 and 54, easy to cover that.
