DJR has fallen into yet another crisis as they don't atm have the sponsorship dollars to field two cars in the championship. Making matters worse is that a key stakeholder Pickering, who was purportedly looking to get Mazda on board, has withdrew from the team. Dick is looking for answers - one possible answer is to seek from V8s themselves funding or Jnr stepping aside for a paying driver; to be in the same situation as the #12. Dick has dug himself a hole. The worth of his team is probably not as much as he would like it to be and the team's prospects for success are almost nil with no major sponsor or jnr there. A paying driver isn't exactly going to change things on the track but at least they will be able to keep their heads above water and look to attract yet another investor like CS or Pickering. While I don't think V8s will lend Dick any money given his dire business past. Poor dick should have got out when Larry did. m.theage.com.au/sport/motorsport/cash-crisis-puts-johnson-team-in-doubt-for-opener-20130127-2dezu.html

He sacrificed his team to keep Jnr in a job and now hes paying for it. Its sad but no sympathy, hes done it to himself

Its probably harsh but they should just let DJR die or just sell the team to someone else and keep Dick as a figurehead, just like Richard Petty Motorsport and Earnhardt Ganassi in the States.

He needs to get out while he can still sell it, and keep the DJR name still...
Doesn't look good though, hopefully they pull through.

With a super v8 record like Steve Johnson, he should have fallen on his sword years ago when things were already tough!
Never ever been a fan of DJ but I do feel for him!

I wonder which poor soul next, after Pickering and CS, will be duped in by Dick to be an 'investor'?

I wonder what happened to that deadline on Friday, I think, that Fiore set for the team to solve its funding issues.
I reckon DJ has asked for it to be stretched out either because he reckons he can secure sponsorship or has sponsors lined up.
In one respect, DJ is so close to realising his dream yet so far. His dream IMO is not to run Fords anymore but another manufacturer and when Pickering was on board that hope was Mazda.
If he can scrap together enough sponsorship for the whole year, he still is a chance, albeit slim, of attracting another manufacturer's involvement but this can only occur and DJ knows this if DJR remains a 2 car team. But getting that $2 million in sponsorship is better said than done...the clock is ticking.

Well it seems that Dick has decided to roll the dice on this two car team - I still reckon it is because he wants that manufacturer deal at the end of the day. This comment from Dick is a downright lie, “The cars that we’ve got are FPR-spec all the way and we should get up to speed pretty quickly thanks to their support,” said Johnson as the cars chassis are constructed by Pace which is not the way FPR have had their chassis constructed. But, there is obviously a reason why he would lie as he wants to make it look like for prospective sponsors that his team has got the potential to be just as fast as FPR. Sadly for these sponsors, if they fall for DJ's old tricks, they will quickly learn that it's another dog of a car. But good to see Tim Blanchard reportedly get the #12 seat - had a couple of good runs in the development series over the years and in open wheelers too. www.speedcafe.com/2013/02/08/dick-johnson-racing-pushing-ahead-with-two-car-attack/

Johnson needs to let it go. Junior is what killed off this once great team. The Johnson's and their pig headed attitude to leaving Stevie a 'legacy' for him to manage.
Maybe Dick can go on TV again, cry lke a litle bitch, get donations and have Ford match it dollar for dollar (yeah like that would happen...).
Ford walked away from Johnson years ago. Johnson has made one stupid business decision after another.
He's always thought DJR was bigger than those that worked or drove for him.
Let's look at some of his insprired decisions.
Let the Stones Bros walk because he wouldn't sell them a share of his team.
Let John Bowe walk, the man who brought DJR most of their Sierra and early Falcon success.
Signed up with dodgey QLD business people time and time again. Westpoint, RockHome and V8Telecoms.
Then let Courtney slip out from under his gaze and actually announce his defection to HRT before he had won Johnson's team the V8 title.
Let various partners and benefactors walk due to his pig headed attitude and stuborness to retire his son who must surely go down as the longest running Son's of the Famous driver in Touring car history.
Pack it in Dick, sell what you have left (which isn't much given that you sold most of your old racecars during one of your earlier financial collapses) and retire to your little appartment with Jill (seeing as how you also lost your big water front home, again in one of your previous financial dramas).
And let junior put a resume' together (for the first time in his life) and get a job. But do it based on his ability instead of having the last name 'Johnson'.

But whilst Dick should be taking most of the blame, lets not forget Jnr's role in all of this as he is a big boy and has a stake in the team beyond his driving for them and should have realised that way back when in about August 2010 that it was in the best interests of the team for him to retire from his full time seat. It's a great feeling to be in a championship contending team, thanks solely to the efforts of JC, but when one of the team owners suggest that you are not up to the task of contending for that championship (let alone top 5), he should have realised that he was right and stepped aside. Now 2 years after JC winning that championship for them, Jnr's decision to hide behind Dick will most likely mean the team will fall and crumble.

You know, if it is true that SVG's main issue at the end of last year was having to meet sponsor commitments, maybe he should have stayed blue and gone to DJR.

Bundy it took Johnson 30 years to thank the public for the first charity handout from 1980 which helped him bakroll his team and turn him at one time into a multi millionare. You have to laugh at bleeding heart Johnson fans who want to throw their good money away on a team that has been so poorly managed that just 3 seasons after winning the championship they find themselves accepting charity. Does Johnson and his team know no shame? Next we'll see Stevie set up on a Pitt St corner with a cardboard sign and a begging cup... What a joke.

Some good news for DJR after finally securing title sponsorship for their cars in the shape of Advam and Wilson Security. Much gratitude should go to Wilson Security for doing that little bit more as they have quite the extensive motorsport sponsorship programme in place as it is. Jnr has officially stepped down and will take on the general manager role whilst news on the 2nd driver won't be known till next week. www.v8supercars.com.au/news/dick-johnson-racing-safely-on-the-grid-for-adelaide
