Holden extends deal with Triple Eight
Holden has announced a multi-year extension to its partnership agreement with championship-winning team Triple Eight, ensuring its continued factory-backed presence in V8 Supercars next season.
Triple Eight and fellow factory-backed team Walkinshaw Racing had deals with the manufacturer that were set to expire at the end of the current V8 Supercars season, with the renewed deal likely to take the teams to the end of local manufacturing in 2016.
Triple Eight defected to Holden from the 2010 season and the team has scored three V8 Supercars drivers’ and four teams’ championships, 67 championship race wins, 55 pole positions and two victories in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
“Holden is proud to extend its championship-winning partnership with Red Bull Racing Australia,” says GM Holden Motorsport and Sponsorship Manager Simon McNamara.
“Red Bull Racing Australia is the sport’s benchmark team, and together we have already achieved great success on and off-track. They played a pivotal role in the development of the new-generation VF Commodore last year; while a number of business-to-business (B2B) deals have seen our partnership grow.”
Team principal Roland Dane, pictured above with McNamara, says he is pleased that Holden will continue to power his championship-winning squad.
“It’s a natural step for us to continue our incredibly successful partnership with Holden,” he says.
“Holden’s continued commitment, in what is a changing marketplace, not only demonstrates their faith in V8 Supercars, but also highlights the importance of motorsport as a fantastic sales and marketing tool.”
V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton welcomed Holden’s commitment to the series.
"GM Holden is an iconic Australian brand with a long and successful history in motorsport and we are delighted that Holden has again committed its support to V8 Supercars,” Warburton says.
“The continuation of its partnership with Red Bull Racing Australia not only brings it on-track success, but as seen today, delivers Holden important business-to-business opportunities, demonstrating the effectiveness of Australia’s premier racing category as a potent sales and marketing tool.”
A renewed deal with Walkinshaw Racing is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

I think this deal shows more than anything the value that Dane places in the loyalty of Holden and their willingness to have come in and supported them when Ford put their own corporate image ahead of actual results.
