I truly think Ford are desperate now to put as little funding into V8s as possible where they are now happy to accept a predominately non-blue livery to appease the main sponsor. Also goes to your argument that they are looking for a way out in the not to distant future that they can't be bothered anymore sticking to their predominately blue livery policy... This is why Ford didnt go bankrupt and GM did, GM even went to Ford with their tail between their legs wanting to merge and to top it off GM have admitted they are years behind Ford in develeopment and profitability!!!!!!! But yet Ford doesnt know what there doing Back to the future of V8SC's Ford v Chev etc is a more realistic proposition, especially if the Liberal paty wins the next election, No government funding, No Holden, This has actually been stated by Holden What do you smoke seriously? GM North America posted a $1.82Billion profit last quarter and is years ahead in it's loan repayments to the US Government. It's December 2012 sales were the highest in 5 years and it's share price is up more than 30%. Ford in Australia have also recieved massive government handouts and then only late last year gave hundreds of workers the flick. The Falcon is barely selling a few hundred a month. FPV is gone, FPR sold and you haven't been able to buy a Falcon V8 for years. And in the face of all of this evidence you still can't accept that the blue oval is moving away from the trouble and expense of supporting a branding exercise on a vehicle it hardly sells, running an engine type it doesn't even offer a road going version of for sale?

Ford's European Gasoline Engine Development boss Andrew Fraser (not the failed Qld Treasurer ) has made it clear that the V8 as a large production unit is dead and that it will be more suited and attractive to the 'niche' auto market. Moreover, he argues that it doesn't make commercial sense anymore for not only Ford but other manufacturers to invest in V8 development programs given fuel consumption issues and CO2 emissions. Hence, the introduction of the 2 litre ecoboost Falcon I guess... This was all while he was spruiking the latest, most efficient offering from Ecoboost a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo...certainly an ideal car for the cramped spaces of Europe but not to sure about Australia? smh.drive.com.au/motor-news/v8-time-is-over-20120702-21bk0.html And this goes to show the mentality of some senior Ford management. His own company builds hundreds of thousands of V8's in the US and Ford's largest selling North Amercian product is the F series truck! Hardly a suitable candidate for one of Andie's 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo motors. And maybe whilst Andie is verbally killing off the V8, he may want to do a little research on his own company who withShelby just released the most powerful production V8 in the world. Not to mentioned GM who offers a multitude of V8's across it's range and has just spent millioons redesigning the small block. Other notable manufacturers who seem to still think the V8 has a place in the automobile include Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lambourghini and Ferrari to name a few... Clearly poor old Andie needs to look up and over his no doubt spotllessly clean desk, past his skim milk latte and into the real word, which extends beyond tiny European micro cars to the rest of the word where many millions of people do crazy things like tow boats, trailors and caravans. Trades peole who carry tools and equipment. And there are also just a few tens of millions of people who don't live in an apartment with their cat and just 5 kilometres from their office, who actually need a car with room and power ad the ability to carry stuff in comfort and over long distances. Now a Dinasour V8 might not be needed but a turbo charged 1 litre 3 cylinder certainly isn't going to do the job. Wake up Andie and join us all here in the real world where things get built and heavy things are shifted around trailors with work stuff need to get to building sites. And for those jobs and many more my turtle neck sweaetr wearing urbanite, your 1 litre triple is, how do we put it in Australia? "As useless as tits on a bull mate...'

Thats why he is the head of "European Gasoline Engine Development" which has sold 300000+ Fiesta's last year something like 1 sold every 2 minutes one of the best selling small cars in the world,so i guess he does know what hes actually talking about, unlike yourself red Most of the V8+ powered cars you mention above are already a niche market As for V8's they are becoming a niche market even in Australia, for towing the favoured are 6 cylinder or turbo powered dual cabs and SUV's, walking around the campground at Bathurst in October is a perfect example of this You havnt been on many building sites lately theres not alot of tradies that drive V8 utes these days, you could say V8 utes are becoming a "niche" market even for the tradie now ;D I supose you will except it when or if GM can catch up the 2 years they have admitted to being behind Ford in the Technology and Development of the modern automobile

Once the Falcon goes so will Commodore, and it will be helped by media and the general public who think losing an iconic car is great.

Once the Falcon goes so will Commodore, and it will be helped by media and the general public who think losing an iconic car is great. I saw this piece today: brisbanetimes.drive.com.au/motor-news/end-of-the-road-20130125-2dagb.html and thought: it's now accepted generally in the community that Holden and Ford manufacturing in Australia of locally produced sixers is on the way out, so lets join that band wagon and kick them while they're down.
