Terrible result for the Aussies last night as they got comprehensively beaten by Pakistan winning by 7 wickets as Australia set a poultry 89 which is the 2nd lowest total we have ever scored in International T20 but it was our worse defeat ever as the pakistanis managed to get the score in the fewest amount of balls that has ever been achieved against us...not good if we consider the world cup is in 3 weeks time...next game against Pakistan is on Friday. m.theaustralian.com.au/sport/cricket/australia-suffers-record-twenty20-loss/story-e6frg7rx-1226466092283

It's on!!! Can't wait...going to the first day next Friday. Here is our 12 man squad - Test squad: David Warner, Ed Cowan, Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke (capt), Mike Hussey, Matthew Wade, James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Ben Hilfenhaus With the Gabba pitch likely to be a green top Lyon will probably miss out. Hopefully...watson will bat 6 but it will probably be three because the Aussies don't really want to expose Hussey or Ponting to the new ball. Also, Wade has still got the keeping spot - it has made some former players pretty angry about Haddin not getting his position back with it looking like the selectors were heartless dropping him when he had to return back to Australia from the Carribean for a family issue. I think Wade's a safer option behind the stumps and just as talented with the bat having scored a century in his last series. Bowling line-up looks strong, for once! www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/cricket/matthew-wade-keeps-gloves-for-first-test-against-south-africa-at-gabba/story-e6frey50-1226504802924

Haddin should be playing IMO. His form is miles ahead of Wade ATM, and he was stabbed in the back for going back to his daughter iirc was sick? And they just drop him. Like does Family come first anymore?

Like does Family come first anymore? I think the selectors just got a bit frustrated with Haddin's form and saw Wade as a young prospect who took his chance with both arms...there isn't much Haddin can do now.

Enough to justify his spot if he played the last test but Wade did pretty well in a couple of shield digs too...so tough call for the selectors, but I think they made the right call...will find out for sure next Friday!!

Haddin was hopeless with the gloves and the bat for 12 months before he was dropped.
He was a liability.
He finally lost me on our tour of South Africa last year. It was, under the circumstances, without any form of exaggeration, the worst shot & dismissal in the history of test cricket. Had no feel for the circumstances of the game and it summed up how he often threw away his wicket too easily when digging in was required.
Whilst I feel sorry for him and it's very sad about his daughter, he was on borrowed time well before then.

I thought Haddin injured his thumb in the T20 - or was that after the squad was announced?
Unfortunate that what most will remember him for is that dismissal - but it is what it is, and given the circumstances and context it was a memorable moment (for all the wrong reasons). Not quite Trevor Chappel memorable, but memorable all the same

Will be interesting to see how he goes. Has made a mountain of runs lately and made a pretty good 85 against South Africa last week in the tour match. You'd think if Quiney does alright, Cowan would have to pull his finger out. They might be playing for the one spot when Watson returns. And let's hope this Doolan bloke continues to make runs. Nothing wrong with pressure for spots and we desperately need some young batsmen to start making runs at shield level to hopefully take over when those old blokes in the middle order either retire or get the arse.

Surely we pick the spinner. Always reluctant to go with 4 quicks. Tests are over 5 days, don't pick a side for the first day.

Interesting that you pick 4 quicks ad choose to bat first.
Have to work later today, but will drown a few tomorrow.
