Good to see a quick wicket after lunch. Wishful thinking, but with the moisture from yesterday coming out of the ground could we see some favourable conditions for swinging the ball and a few more quick wickets?
Yeah, probably not.
Amla has had a couple of good months - makes a century this morning, and pretty sure I saw him kick the winning goal for the Swans in the AFL grand final.
Edit: GIDDY-UP!!!! There goes another.
Siddle needs to get off the vegan diet and eat some meat. He should have gone in at lunch and grabbed a porterhouse - an emotive action to fire up and inspire his team-mates, like when Shaun Rehn threw away the protective mattress on his knee at half time of the prelim final.

De villers out...although i had to hold my breath for a no-ball by pattinson. Geez it was close...on to the SA tail now. Are you sure it wasn't Kallis kicking that last goal jamolad? He can do everything else

Ponting gone now - running at the ball again
Not a great fan of Channel 9's commentators giving plugs to companies (toyota, vb) through the telecast

**** Cowan was lucky last night. Hope he goes on now. Clarke looked solid Another milimetre behind the line and he would have been on his way. That's now 3 ducks in four innings for Ponting. I reckon his only got one more test or he'll be replaced by Khawaja.

He's built up some credit points last summer and was playing well before the series started. I want to see Khwaja keep making a few more big shield tonnes. I think he's got what it takes, I don't want him in there at Ponting's expense just yet. Ponting should get South African tests at a minimum

Isn't that 3 ducks in 4 innings against South Africa? Yeah you're right. His last four innings against South Africa have yielded 0,0,62,0 He's built up some credit points last summer and was playing well before the series started. Well his got the most runs in Shield cricket leading into the test match...so that might give him a bit of breathing space. I want to see Khwaja keep making a few more big shield tonnes. I think he's got what it takes, I don't want him in there at Ponting's expense just yet. Ponting should get South African tests at a minimum If Ponting can get through the Saffas, I can see him cashing in on the Sri Lankans.

Had to listen to some of yesterday arvo on ABC radio as I was on the road, and they had a stat along the lines of punter managed to avoid scoring a duck in something like his first 27-odd innings against SA (or was it tests), and has then had scored a duck in omething like 1 out of every 3 innings since. Don't know if it is just him getting older or if the SA quicks have improved in recent years.
And Kerry O'K had another interesting stat - reckons Warnie had written 3 books before he had read a book.

Good fight back from the Aussies, Cowan sure shut his critics(mostly journo's) up with that innings.

Declaration has been made. 115 in front. Good call from Clarkey before SA wastes anymore time.
1st wicket down for Pattinson. 9 to go. Come on Aussies!!

Teetered out to a draw this arvo...
Big things for the aussies to take out of the test was the form of Cowan, Pattinson...Hifenhaus will be under pressure to hold his position from Starc.
On a sidenote, Haddin scored a ton this afternoon for NSW, so maybe he can do what Clarke suggests and play for Australia as a batsman and not a keeper.
