In some other news of the day, Luca, the President of Ferrari has quashed rumours of Perez replacing Alonso saying that he isn't experienced enough. Maybe that is code to Webber that Ferrari are definately interested in his services for next year... But to say Perez hasn't got enough years under his belt in F1 sort of goes against the grain to how Massa even got a drive with Ferrari to begin with as he wasn't that much more experienced than Perez when he started at Ferrari www.planet-f1.com/news/3213/7791627/Ferrari-Boss-Rules-Out-Perez
And just out of interested, here is reportedly what the F1 drivers earn. Hopefully, it is more on the mark than that comparable V8 list that came out a couple of months ago Can't believe Webber would be on the same as Vettel...but Fernando on 30 million...wow! And the same could be said about Nico earning more than Michael...what the 01. Fernando Alonso €30 million 02. Lewis Hamilton €16 million = Jenson Button €16 million 04. Sebastian Vettel €10 million = Mark Webber €10 million = Felipe Massa €10 million = Nico Rosberg €10 million 08. Michael Schumacher €8 million 09. Kimi Raikkonen €5 million 10. Heikki Kovalainen €4 million 11. Timo Glock €3 million 12. Kamui Kobayashi €1 million = Romain Grosjean €1 million 14. Nico Hulkenberg €500,000 = Sergio Perez €500,000 = Vitaly Petrov €500,000 = Pedro de la Rosa €500,000 18. Jean-Eric Vergne €400,000 = Daniel Ricciardo €400,000 = Pastor Maldonado €400,000 21. Bruno Senna €250,000 = Nairan Karthikeyan €250,000 23. Paul di Resta €200,000 24. Charles Pic €150,000 www.planet-f1.com/driver/18227/7793193/-Alonso-tops-F1-money-list-

Haha...'Drivers are daddy's boys lacking respect' from the mouth of JV www.planet-f1.com/news/3213/7798598/JV-F1-Drivers-Are-Little-Daddy-s-Boys-There is some truth to what he is saying that there was more respect between drivers in his father's day and less of the frantic blocking and passing that we see these days but I also think he fails to understand that there are more competitive cars are out with regulations that re-inforce a desire for F1 to achieve to as close to parity as possible. I also think with this comment, 'they weren't racers at 12 years old, [with] the financing there in place for them to race...' is another failure to grasp the massive commercialisation of the sport and just how much some teams rely on the financial contribution of drivers to keep their teams afloat.

I think certainly there is enough for Schumi to remain hopeful...in the hands of both Nico and Schumi they are showing promising signs of being there or thereabouts for race wins each weekend but it is just the team and the car's reliability that is letting Schumi down on the whole. www.planet-f1.com/news/3213/7807720/Schumi-Keeping-The-Faith-At-Merc-GP
Now it seems that Lewis isn't on track for that pay increase if he re-signs with McLaren but rather a pay cut if what Ron Dennis says is true that they will take into account when making an offer the dire economic conditions that they are currently witnessing over in Europe. www.planet-f1.com/news/3213/7806412/Hamilton-Set-For-A-Pay-Cut-

It really doesnt suprise me that Ron Dennis has come out and said this, It was only a matter of time before the GFC hit F1 drivers, I always say to a mate who follows F1 like I do that things will have to change because of the GFC, Also dont believe Alonso is on what they report his on either.

I just wonder whether using the GFC is simply an excuse and in fact there is no valid eeason why they can't afford a pay increase for lewis...haha...similar to this clown government blaming every misfortune on the GFC ;D @ HDT - well schumi can't be any worse than Massa atm

Yep at this rate there is no reason not to offer Mark a new contract, still holding hopes he gets Massa's seat next year. I would love nothing more for him to leave Red bull and give Helmut the ultimate bird

Ferrari boss fuels Vettel rumours Thursday 21st June 2012 Stefano Domenicali believes Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso could "easily coexist" at Ferrari, igniting rumours of a pending switch for the German. As the 'Vettel to Ferrari in the future' reports refuse to die down - with some publications even claiming he has already signed a pre-contract for 2014 - the Italian team's boss has once again thrown fuel on the fire. Sitting down with Bernie Ecclestone for an interview with Auto Bild, Domenicali and the F1 surpremo were shown a picture of Vettel made to look as if he were wearing a Ferrari race-suit. "All drivers want to drive for Ferrari at least once in their career, don't they?" was Ecclestone's response while Domenicali coyly said: "In life one should never say never!" Pressed as to whether it would be problematic having Alonso and Vettel at the same team, otherwise worded as 'two cocks cannot live in the same hen house', Domenicali said: "I think they are both intelligent guys and they could easily coexist together." The Italian's comments were backed up by Ecclestone. "That wouldn't be a problem: both are drivers who are always looking for a new challenge and to be in the same team would be a new and big challenge," said the 81-year-old. "They would both think they can bear the other one, as they are sure of themselves and Stefano would do what was required to so that they were treated equally. "It would be a case of doing what I did at Brabham in 1979 with Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet. I told them, 'guys it's simple: whichever one of you is quickest is the team number 1'." But while Ecclestone believes they could do well as team-mates, he "wouldn't advise" Vettel to join Ferrari as "he's still too young! Usually, a driver ends his career at Ferrari, therefore it could happen one day." As for talk of Ferrari also wanting Red Bull's chief designer Adrian Newey, Domenicali said: "Newey is definitely one of the best engineers in Formula 1 but in this sport teamwork is the most important thing and in Ferrari, we have a great team, made up of people who are progressing together and who can now show what they are capable of." planetf1.com/driver/3213/7832775/Ferrari-boss-fuels-Vettel-rumours

While it is possible that Vettel has signed a 'pre-contract for 2014' with Webber to possibly fill in as a gap driver next year, I can totally see fireworks between Vettel and Alonso if they ended up being team-mates. Ferrari would do well to sign them as I reckon they would quickly leap into 1st or 2nd best team on the grid but it may be short-lived if the relationship fractures...
Plus, I think from an engineering point of view for the cars they would probably go separate ways in terms of set-up and overall feel...

Agree Bundy, It would be a strong line up but how long it would last is anyones guess.

Shumi is on a hiding to nothing with the critics, If he has a shocker a Silverstone, They will be back just as loud.

Shumi is on a hidding to nothing with the critics, If he has a shocker a Silverstone, They will be back just as loud. As i said a win is the only thing that will keep them at bay but I thought Nico's drive was nearly as impressive as Michael and certainly early on out performed him. Schumi still has plenty to prove... But next round is Silverstone and for sure he has a good record there pre-retirement, so we'll see how he goes there...also feels weird that it's at silverstone...sort of a de ja vue feeling after Motogp was just there
