Great news for Webber. As appealing at the Ferrair superannuation payment would've been plus driving for the name "Ferrari", the incentive to drive there and be Alonso's bitch was obviously not strong enough. Agreed, if he went to Ferrari he would be no 2 for sure. He is better off at RedBull. Either way Webber to Ferrari wouldnt of made any sense anyway. Much better to get a new up and coming driver I thought

Yeah awesome news Webber...continues his long association with the Milton Keynes squad. Going to ferrari would have probably been for prestige reasons as I think red bull is still the car to have for results, especially with Adrian Newy there.

Doubtful maybe they will continue to see how he goes for the rest of the season and make a decision at the end of the year, Can't see it being Massa though.

His drive on Sunday was a lot better though. And the fact that Ferrari were wanting Webber shows to me that they have a fairly big name that may have an in-principle agreement with for 2014 and they wanted a stop-gap solution for one year.

True. Guess it depends on that big name driver having really signed the option or not(Vettel ?). If thats the case then as you said if Massa keeps driving as well as he did on the weekend, It would make sense to keep him for another 12mths.

Word is there are certain performance based clauses Ferrari have to hit next year.

I read that rumour as well, I think if Massa does get another year with Ferrari it will add more weight to the rumour. If its not then Ferrari should promote one of the fast young guys while Alonso is still there to lead the team.

With his recent form, I think he might get another year regardless of those rumours that Sebastian may or may not be arriving there in 2014. We all know that Alonso likes to be the dominating no. 1 driver in the team and with Massa still there, he will continue as that dominant, preferred driver...

Don't agree Bundy, They could still put a Perez type driver in the team and they wont make to much difference early on to Alonso, But 1-2 years down the track they will be able to perform and then Aloonso is a couple years older. And Massa hasn't proved anything just yet, So its all a bit to early I suppose.

I think it may boil down to who Alonso is least threatened by...if it is one of these new kids like Perez or if it Massa, who he will go with...because more than other team Ferrari is built around one driver...he scores all the podiums, wins, brings the sponsors, attracts the fans...so his preference will be crucial...can't see him ever agreeing to have vettel or hamilton as his team-mate despite the 'super' team it would create...

Can anyone tell me why Webber keeps re-signing with Redbull even though he has stated he doesn't get the same treatment as his no personality teamate!

He looks to be getting equal treatment at the moment, The only thing that worries me about there treatment is Helmuts Mancrush on Vettel, Hopefully Dietrich has stopped that from turning into favouring one driver?

Perez will be at Ferrari IMO or someone else for when Vettel turns up in 2014.
Massa will be gone I hope. And I'm pretty confident Ferrari will not renew his contract.
