Interesting developments in the bribery case that saw a former German banker go down and get jailed for bribes and failing to pay taxes on 44 odd million...in that, as the charges and therefore conviction relate to the banker's role in the sale of F1 rights from German Bank BayernLB to CVC where he allegedly recieved bribes from no other than a Mr. Eccelstone that Mercedes F1 and Daimler-Chrysler have insisted upon an investigation into the events as it doesn't 'tolerate the immoral or corrupt practices of its employees or its business partners." The serious consequences of any serious adverse finding could mean that Mercedes may withdraw from F1 www.planet-f1.com/driver/18227/7855398/-Daimler-demand-bribery-investigation-
I agree with Hill though as much as I would like London to host a GP race, I recognise that it would be an absolute logistical nightmare with transport. The Olympics will provide a good indicator of whether or not it's up to the task... www.planet-f1.com/driver/18227/7853156/Hill-London-GP-a-logistical-problem

He'll stay on hopefully, but I wouldn't mind him back at Ferrari. It would be a fitting full circle for him but I think he is happy at Mercedes with Ross Brawn there

Hang in there Maria! ----------------------------------- "So for next year there is a pretty decent chance I'll be racing in Formula One - let's see, come November, who it is with." Found this part of a Webber article confusing, Why wait until Nov?? Last year he had it announced a lot earlier, Nice way to keep us guessing Mark Dont know why but Ferrari is sounding good. www.planetf1.com/driver/18227/7873132/Webber-Decent-chance-of-F1-future

McLaren are to hold a "crisis meeting" on Tuesday as the Woking squad look to find answers for their recent slump in form. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, who challenging for victories only a couple of races ago, found themselves battling mid-field teams like Sauber and Williams at their home race at Silverstone this weekend. While McLaren have slipped back, Red Bull and Ferrari have gone from strength to strength and appear to have opened a gap over the pack while the likes of Lotus and Mercedes will feel they are the best of the rest. Hamilton has already admitted that the "significant difference" to the MP4-27's nose might be the big reason for their inability to challenge those in front while his team-mate feels they "just didn't have the pace" at the British GP. The poor showing at Silverstone has seen Hamilton slip to 37 points behind Ferrari's Fernando Alonso in the Drivers' Championship with Button is further 40 points adrift. Meanwhile in the Constructors' standings, Lotus have moved ahead of McLaren into third place. The team, though, are determined to bounce back and will hold a meeting at Woking. Button has conceded it "is going to be a sombre one, but I'm sure everyone is going to be very aggressive about trying to improve this car". The Guardian adds that 'the outcome of Tuesday's meeting, and McLaren's ability to turn their season around, will impact on the futures of the team principal, Martin Whitmarsh, and his star driver Hamilton'. 'Whitmarsh, in his fourth season in charge, has yet to deliver a drivers' or constructors' championship. Meanwhile, Hamilton will be out of contract at the end of the season and is already considering his options'. www.planetf1.com/news/3213/7885447/McLaren-Set-For-Sombre-Crisis-Meeting-

I thought for sure they were going to be strong at Silverstone but they struggled even in the wet - between Red Bull and Ferrari now for the championship?

I thought for sure they were going to be strong at Silverstone but they struggled even in the wet - between Red Bull and Ferrari now for the championship? It is looking that way, But this year more than ever its to hard to say, Mclaren are just as likely to get to Gemany and be on the pace. One thing that suprised me, Is there front nose at the start of the year being so different to the others, It hasn't been seen as a problem until now, Maybe its the faster open curcuits like Silverstone where it gets shown up?

Oh to be Mark Webber right now. Just days after winning the British Grand Prix, the Australian signed a new contract with Red Bull that will see him stay on until the end of the 2013 season. Now that's what you call a good week. This, of course, means there will be no more rumours of "Webber to Ferrari" or "Webber to call it quits at the end of 2012". Who knows maybe the Ferrari speculation was the reason for Red Bull's haste to tie him down for next year. The 35-year-old joined the Milton Keynes squad in 2007, but he has been on a rolling one-year contract for the past few seasons. However, team principal Christian Horner and defending World Champion Sebastian Vettel both admitted recently that they want to keep him at the team for another year. Webber admits he is "very comfortable" at Red Bull and signing a new deal was the "right thing" to do. "I've been with Red Bull Racing since 2007 and have achieved nine grand prix wins during that time," he said in a statement. "I'm high on confidence at the moment and firing on all cylinders. I know the Team well and I'm very comfortable here; we have grown together over the years and it feels like absolutely the right thing to stay with Red Bull for another season. "The Team is constantly working hard to improve in all areas and we've shown that together we can win races. It's great to be able to make this announcement off the back of the win in Silverstone at the weekend and I'm looking forward to competing on the edge and pushing myself in every race again next season." Horner added: "Mark has driven very well in the first nine races of this season and his performance has been impressive. "Much of his Formula One success has been during his time with Red Bull Racing and together we have achieved 10 poles, nine wins and 31 podiums. "As there was a strong desire from both sides to continue the partnership, it was a logical decision to extend our relationship and it is with great pleasure that we confirm Mark will drive for us in 2013." www.planetf1.com/news/3213/7886254/Webber-s-2013-Deal-Signed-And-SealedHappy and sad all at once Glad Webber will still be around next year, But had a strong feeling he would end up at Ferrari, Anyway good loyalty MW.

Great news for Webber.
As appealing at the Ferrair superannuation payment would've been plus driving for the name "Ferrari", the incentive to drive there and be Alonso's bitch was obviously not strong enough.
