Interesting to see that hot spot has been dropped for the return leg of the Ashes. They will still have eagle eye and stump mics to rely on for referrals but tbh I would like the referral system to be dropped completely if they aren't going to use all the technology available to them including snicko. www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashes-2013-14/content/story/678311.html

1st test squad announced: Chris Rogers, David Warner, Shane Watson, Michael Clarke (capt), Steve Smith, George Bailey, Brad Haddin (wk, vice-capt), James Faulkner, Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris, Nathan Lyon. I expect Faulkner to be 12th man. Strong team

****ing incredibly hot day here at the gabba. Tough going for the aussies - the poms aren't giving much away. Watson looked so solid before giving that chance. Hopefully Davey can get that 100

I was about to say the poms had the honours this morning but that late wicket to Johnson has left the match in the balance.

Strange place for last post bundy Haha - it has been awhile since I've had to move a post so I thought I would give myself some practice ;D Couldn't believe the score when I found out today, Really thought we were in some deep **** only getting 296, Well done Aussies, But they have to finish them off!! Yeah I never thought it would turn out this good this arvy especially how Johnson began - but he showed heaps of mongrel and I think he has exposed the poms for their weakness to the short ball which is no surprise given the dust-bowl pitches they play on over there

Cricket and the Ashes in particular is the best ever!!! Right now it is anyway.
Thought Johnson might bowl well after getting a half century as his results all hinge on where his head is at. Seems he either can't bat or bowl for ****, or is one of the better alrounders. There doesn't seem to be any inbetween. Loving his Movember tribute to the players of the 70's and 80's.
Got to laugh at all the early talk from the poms about how sledging will back-fire on us - they then snipe at Clarke when he comes to the crease and concede singles to put Clarke on strike like he was a number 11 debutant...very tense first few balls facing Broad's first over before dispatching him to the boundary on consecutive short-pitched 'trap' balls. I respect but don't like Clarke but really enjoyed that first session - they had us pinned down and scoring at about 0.5 runs per over before Clarke and Warner swung it back out way.
Bundy - your weather up there better not save the poms.

Bundy - your weather up there better not save the poms. Johnson and Lyon picking up wickets is the only thing keeping it at bay Only two more to go though ;D Johnson is bowling with some heat. I gladly eat my words about him. **** it, he can bowl however and where ever he likes as long as it's fast and it has been consistently in the 140s. Also, if you haven't seen this, it's pretty funny: ;D

Well done boys on a historic victory I wouldn't mind if they back this up with a draw in Adelaide given that the quick deck in Perth will probably suit the Aussies.

Top effort by the boy's in the first Test, Well done! Not to sure who will do what at the newly resurfaced Adelaide oval, Let's hope we keep giving the Pom's heaps though

Not to sure who will do what at the newly resurfaced Adelaide oval, Let's hope we keep giving the Pom's heaps though Well it is a drop in pitch now thanks to the AFL so it will probably get lower and slower as the test match goes on! Bat first, put on 500 and that should set us up for a game we can't lose!

Looking like Clarke will be charged for his sledge to Jimmy Anderson, "get ready for a broken ****ing arm" and fined about 20% of his match fee. A black letter of the law interpretation of the game's rules has to see Clarke cited and punished for those words. The biggest gripe I have is with England referring it in the first place to the ICC as it now sets the standard between the two countries that no sledging is to occur. I also can't believe that there wouldn't have been any history between Clarke and Anderson that precipitated such an outburst from Clarke. From where it was 20-30 years ago, this game has gotten soft. www.brisbanetimes.com.au/spor...125-2y5co.html
